Membrane Engineer

 

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Membrane Engineer to support our engineering and installation teams for high purity water systems. The Membrane Engineer is responsible for the design, application, and optimization of membrane-based water and wastewater treatment systems, including reverse osmosis (RO), nanofiltration (NF), ultrafiltration (UF), and microfiltration (MF).  This role leads technical system sizing, process design, membrane selection, and performance modeling to deliver reliable, cost-effective treatment solutions for industrial and municipal customers.

 

The position serves as a key technical resource supporting sales, project execution, manufacturing, and field service teams.  Responsibilities include evaluating water chemistry, developing treatment strategies, preparing technical proposals, supporting pilot studies, and providing startup and commissioning support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and engineer membrane-based water and wastewater treatment systems (RO, NF, UF, MF), including system sizing, membrane modeling, hydraulic calculations, and equipment selection.
  • Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs, equipment layouts, and technical documentation to support proposals and project execution.
  • Review customer water analyses and develop treatment strategies, performance projections, and technical proposals.
  • Support pilot studies, analyze operating data, and optimize system performance, recovery, and lifecycle cost.
  • Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, collaborating with sales, project management, manufacturing, and service teams.
  • Deliver field support including site evaluations, system startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and customer training.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, standard product development, and evaluation of emerging membrane technologies. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in membrane-based water treatment systems.
  • Strong knowledge of RO, NF, UF, and MF design principles.
  • Experience with membrane projection software and process modeling tools.
  • Working knowledge of scaling indices (LSI, S&DSI), fouling mechanisms, and pretreatment chemistry.
  • Familiarity with industrial, municipal, and reuse applications preferred.
  • Ability to interpret water chemistry reports and recommend pretreatment solutions.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD or equivalent design software is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Approximately 30% travel is required to support site assessments, system startups, troubleshooting, and customer training.
