We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Temporary Lab Technician to join our team for this summer. As a Lab Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting laboratory operations by assisting with various tasks related to sample processing and data management. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic chemistry laboratory environment, collaborate with a diverse team of scientists and technicians, and contribute to the advancement of scientific research and discovery. 

 

Responsibilities: 

• Sample Handling: Receive, label, and prepare samples for analysis according to established protocols and procedures. Ensure proper identification and documentation of samples, and maintain sample integrity throughout the processing and storage process. 

• Data Entry and Documentation: Record and document experimental data, test results, and observations accurately and legibly in laboratory notebooks or electronic databases. Maintain organized and up-to-date records of experimental procedures, protocols, and findings. 

• Quality Control: Assist with quality control procedures, including sample testing, calibration checks, and proficiency testing, to ensure accuracy and precision of laboratory results. Notify supervisors of any deviations or discrepancies identified during quality control processes. 

• Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels of laboratory supplies and reagents, and assist with ordering, receiving, and stocking of materials as needed. Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory workspaces and storage areas. 

• Safety Compliance: Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and regulations, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and participation in safety training programs. Report any safety hazards or incidents to supervisors promptly. 

• Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with laboratory staff, including scientists, technicians, and other lab aides, to coordinate workflow, troubleshoot issues, and achieve common goals. Communicate openly and respectfully with team members to foster a positive work environment. 

 

Requirements: 

• High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional coursework or training in laboratory science or a related field preferred. 

• Previous experience working in a laboratory setting preferred but not required. Willingness to learn and adapt to new laboratory techniques and procedures. 

• Basic proficiency in laboratory techniques and procedures, including sample preparation, pipetting, and data entry. Familiarity with laboratory equipment and instrumentation is a plus. 

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in performing laboratory tasks and recording data. Ability to follow instructions precisely and maintain meticulous records. 

• Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with team members and follow instructions from supervisors.
