Software Engineer

We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join our Enterprise Application Services (EAS) team within the IT department. The EAS team is a creative, highly productive team that works with business stakeholders to create software solutions that benefit NCH employees and customers.  The Software Engineer will be responsible for remediating issues on an existing platform and working alongside other developers to build a new platform to support the growing needs of the NCH business. A little about you

You have a passion for Full Stack .NET Web Development. In fact, you have 7+ years of using C#, ASP.NET MVC, WEBFORMS, SQL and maybe a Bachelor’s Degree in either Computer Science or Computer Information Systems. You also have strong SQL skills and experience developing responsive web applications using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and JQuery. Additionally you have utilized Unit Tests during development and also experience developing Windows Services.

You are an innovative problem solver with a high degree of adaptability.  You look at the way things are done and always ask yourself if there is a better way to do it.  You bring innovative ideas to the table to improve process efficiency.  You have a demonstrated ability to handle diverse situations, multiple projects and rapidly changing priorities.

You are a team player. You’re adaptable, reliable and willing to put in the work to get the job done. You are comfortable collaborating and taking project direction while providing strategic technical input when needed. Actually, you find people often come to you because they know you will give thoughtful feedback.

You are an effective communicator. You understand the IT world well enough that you can interpret requests and clearly provide responses and help in return. You can communicate with all types of individuals and stakeholders. You are well-versed on the phone and in person. You communicate to your team on a regular basis and they look to you for clear guidance and expectations.

You are highly detail-oriented. Even amid juggling multiple assignments, you are diligent in your reviews, dotting all of the I’s and crossing all of the T’s. Your attention to detail goes hand-in-hand with your critical thinking and innovative skillset.

Day-to-Day Work Examples

  • Design and develop reusable software component on Windows/.NET platforms that will be utilized by multiple web browsers
  • Identify deficiencies in existing designs or architectures and suggest remediation possibilities
  • Create technical documentation and architectural proposals for peer review
  • Ensure code and the design meets the customer’s specifications without compromising quality and security standards
  • Work with business stakeholders to analyze and convert business requirements into scalable, robust and flexible designs
  • Follow configuration management and version control policies
  • Investigate defects, present solutions with accurate estimates of work effort and implement the solution on time and on budget
  • Develop, remediate and run unit tests
