We’re seeking a detail-oriented Sample Login Lab Technician who will assist the R&D team with the proper receipt, documentation, storage, and disposal of samples. A little about you

  • An Associates’ degree in Science is a plus but we will consider an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Practical laboratory experience (chemical safety knowledge, personal protective equipment, glassware handling, etc.) in an industrial laboratory is also a plus.
  • Computer literacy and a comfort level using Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Outlook/Word and Excel is strongly encouraged.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Quick-learner/self-starter, coachable/adaptable, eager to learn, takes notes while learning, references notes as needed to develop retention and proficiency quickly.
  • Strong attention to detail, application of critical thinking skills, understanding importance of the sample login role.
  • Must be a team player but also able to work independently.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with an ability to organize and prioritize work.

 

Day-to-day work examples

  • Receive samples from clients and other labs in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Unpack, document, and process samples received via courier services (USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.).
  • Entry of sample receipt information into Mohawk’s Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Print and accurately affix tracking labels on all containers.
  • Transfer samples to appropriate locations.
  • Dispose of analyzed samples.
  • Assist with the other Sample Receipt related duties as necessary.
  • Primary liaison between lab and clients (answering questions, clarifying analytical needs, coordinating rush requests, and ensuring completeness of necessary information to promote sample throughput).
  • Holds primary responsibility for answering phone calls from clients.
  • Able to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Prepare and analyze/titrate samples for select parameters via approved methodologies and/or instrumentation.
  • Perform other essential functions which may be assigned by the manager.
