This person will conduct experimental investigations and research to test products and develop new, creative formulations. A little about you

You may have the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
  • 1 – 3 years industrial experience
  • A self-starter with proven critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Research experience in tribology, lubricant engineering, grease chemistry and/or rheology highly desirable
  • Ability to assess and interpret scientific and patent literature to develop desired and/or novel lubricant and grease compositions and manufacturing processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills


Day-to-day work examples

We support growth, opportunity and variety, which means your day-to-day has the potential to adapt with you and your passions. If you’re not challenged and growing, neither are we. For starters, though, here are some day-to-day examples of what you will be doing:

  • Development of finished lubricants and fuel additives in alignment with marketing strategies and manufacturing capabilities. Lubricant applications include engine oils, transmission fluids, gear oils, hydraulic fluids and industrial and automotive lubricating greases.  Segments include but is not limited to construction, mining, maritime, forestry and agriculture.
  • Lead projects with well-defined performance and cost targets through stage-gate process.
  • Analyze data and draw conclusions against project objectives/requirements.
  • Communicate through written reports and presentations project’s results, benchmarking information and conclusions.
  • Develops strong relationships with raw material suppliers and leverages their technology and capabilities into research programs.
  • Transfer of new product technology to manufacturing facilities.
  • Provides technical support to marketing and sales groups through the testing and analyses of competitive products and field samples.
  • May represent NCH at industry technical meetings such as NLGI, Society of Automotive Engineers and others.
