A little about you

You are a strong, fair leader. You enjoy leading in a people-serving role and can successfully manage others. Your leadership is driven by fairness and honesty to do what’s right on behalf both the employee and company. You are accountable and responsible for not just your responsibilities at-hand, but for the growth of the role overall.

You are a confident communicator. You can handle delivering both good and bad news, effectively listening and communicating in potentially difficult situations. You are comfortable communicating with and serving as a subject matter expert for diverse stakeholders, including business unit managers, individual employees and legal counsel.

You play the role of coach and mentor. You thrive on inspiring and motivating others to perform well and often see direct impact from your influence. It’s typical for people to come to you for advice. Guiding, coaching and counseling feel natural, and it’s easy for you to apply that practice even when facing difficult or emotional customer situations.

You are customer service oriented. You are personable, great at building relationships and keeping peace when situations may be a bit more volatile. You methodically listen, interpret requests and work in the best interest of the stakeholders at hand. You are quick to respond, and respect all requests equally.

You use sound judgement to solve problems. You are quick on your feet at analyzing information to develop the best solution and decision you can, based on the policies at hand. You don’t need decisions to be black and white to reasonably come up with a solution. Actually, you are willing to make the hard calls, because you are confident with your problem-solving and communication skills.

You maintain an unbiased opinion. You know how to be neutral to ensure fair treatment and concern for both employees and the company. This means you are able to remove emotion when it comes to making decisions and conducting conversations that may be otherwise difficult.

You maintain a strong ethical stance. You understand EEO policy and show respect and sensitivity for cultural differences. You act with integrity and treat all employees equally. You are the type of person who always does what is right and keeps ethics and organizational values at the forefront when it comes to handling any situation.

You have a solid HR background. You have at least a bachelor’s degree and ten years of corporate-related HR experience with similar responsibilities, or a similar equivalent combining the two. You may even have SHRM qualifications under your belt. You have a working knowledge of HRIS, Performance Management Systems, other HR applications, Excel and Word.

Day-to-day work examples

We support growth, opportunity and variety, which means your day-to-day has the potential to adapt with you and your passions. If you’re not challenged and growing, neither are we. For starters, though, here are some day-to-day examples of what you will be doing:

  • Coach a supervisor in handling an employee conflict in compliance with company policy.
  • Conduct in-depth investigations into new claims, developing action plans and follow up.

  • Collaborate with business units and the legal department to address employment relations resolutions.
  • Manage and oversee a Compliance Administrator and associated day-to-day work, including quarterly audits of HR practices.
  • Work with learning and development to develop various training programs for employees.
  • Educate new employees on company culture, policies and procedures during new hire orientation.
  • Annually review current policies and revise to bring them into compliance.
  • Counsel associates on career opportunities and professional development.
