We’re seeking an entry-level Buyer to join our Purchasing team. The successful candidate will ensure that the right products are available at the right time at the lowest possible cost to meet customer orders. This position will interact with various departments (Marketing, Operations, Accounting, Customer Service, etc.) to insure proper inventory levels, service levels, costs, quality and timely delivery of a variety of inventory line items. He/she will assist in the introduction of new items and drop shipment of special orders. A little about you

You have a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Logistics, Marketing or other related field of study. You are technically savvy in your field and proficient in using basic corporate tools such as Microsoft Office. You may have some experience with buying packaging or equipment, which is a plus!

 

You are customer oriented.  You are able to proactively identify and exceed customer expectations – both internal and external.  You strive to deliver value and provide timely responses with a positive attitude.  You seek continuous improvement and are willing to challenge the status quo.

 

You are an excellent communicator. Your strong interpersonal skills give you the ability to develop rapport and maintain strong working relationships with both internal and external customers and suppliers. You have strong written and verbal communication skills and carry a professional demeanor.  You are comfortable speaking and working with anyone.

 

You are accountable and comfortable with making decisions.  You have a high standard of personal integrity and are responsible enough to manage millions of dollars of company funds as if it was your own.

 

You are highly detail-oriented and analytical. You have the ability analyze complex situations and deliver accurate results with great attention to detail. You approach your work with a zero error mindset and are a reliable resource for quality.

 

You work well under pressure. You are comfortable with tight deadlines and juggling competing priorities.

 

 

Day-to-day work examples

We support growth, opportunity and variety, which means your day-to-day has the potential to adapt with you and your passions. If you’re not challenged and growing, neither are we. For starters, though, here are some day-to-day examples of what you will be doing:

  • Place orders based on Material Requirement Planning, reorder reports, customer orders, special orders, stock/export demand, etc. considering factors of quantity, price, quality, delivery requirements, and shipping points
  • Carry out necessary follow-up and expediting activities to insure delivery as required
  • Acquire quotes, pricing, product information, data sheets, sourcing and samples on both new and existing products
  • Maintain vendor and product files, price lists and computer correspondence related to their product line
  • Interview vendors and their representatives personally by telephone, email and plant visits
  • Examine and approve all invoice variances for orders placed
  • Meet regulatory and safety requirements as required at the national, state, local and NCH level
  • Build and develop relationships with internal customers and suppliers
  • Prepare internal reports; Data management within an item set including vendor data, pricing, item attributes, etc.
  • Other projects as assigned by manager
