Responsible for the direction of hourly associates in the proper movement, storage and shipment of products. Responsible for meeting or exceeding established on-time deliveries, accuracy, and productivity, labor and quality objectives in a cost efficient method. Directs associates to maintain proper safety conditions and compliance with policies and defined procedures. Must ensure proper orientation and training for hourly associates, observe associates activities and provide feedback and positive reinforcement on work processes, work quality, and productivity. Must appropriately handle associate questions, concerns, and follow-up on issues with the intent to maintain a positive work environment. Actively develops and promote open lines of communication to maintain and develop positive associate relations; encourages associate involvement in the business; appropriately recognizes associates for their accomplishments and ideas. Completes necessary documentation requested for tracking attendance, accuracy, productivity, on-time shipments and safety incidents. Develop, plan for and supervise Associates so that they efficiently accomplish the goals of the day / week. 

 

Duties and Responsiblities

 

  • Supervises labor hours and consumable supplies within budget. Prepares work schedules including extra workdays and shifts as needed.  Allocates inventory to orders for order picking with attention to FEFO and lot codes. Ensures that internal, domestic and export shipments ship accurately and on time utilizing documented and updated procedures.  Support and proactively enforce all safety guidelines.  Assist with the training of new associates, including cross training of existing associates.
  • Refine set-up and management of processes to ensure maximization of finished goods, warehouse space and carrier scheduling to maximize efficient product flow, delivery performance and minimize costs through use of resources such as data analysis and time studies.
  • Coordinate and direct the activities of the department to maximize productivity and minimize cost while maintaining quality and promoting safety, housekeeping and employee morale.
  • Collaborate with other departments to solve problems and drive improvements

  • Ensures proper maintenance of material handling and shipping equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, shrink-wrap machine, strapping machine, etc.) by monitoring the Warehouse, preventative maintenance schedules and service contracts.

  • Provide timely effective feedback to associates relative to attendance, performance, and development by performing periodic updates, coaching, and annual performance appraisals.

  • Perfoms other related duties are required.

 

Education and or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5-year university program certificate; or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of experience and education. 
  • Forklift certification preferred.

  • Equipment Selection - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
  • Problem Solving – Ability to isolate the root cause, identify alternative solutions, select the most cost effective solution, implement, and evaluate whether the problem has been solved.
  • Computer skills – Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft products (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.), inventory software, and internet are required.
  • Works well in-group problem solving situations; uses reasoning, logic, able to identify alternative solutions or approaches to problems.
