Embedded Software Engineer

We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to act as the principal for the firmware component of a hardware design. They will work in unison with Senior Design Engineer to create firmware and test system functionality.  They will coordinate with external board manufacturer to design, maintain and upgrade current systems. A Little About You

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related
  • 5+ years working on full software development life cycle of a commercially released software product.
  • Proficient in embedded software/firmware development, including C and C++.
  • Experience integrating software and hardware using embedded data bus protocols, UART, SPI, I2C for Microchip PIC microcontroller.
  • Proficiency using development tools such as Microchip curiosity boards, MIKROE click boards, MPLAB, LABVIEW, and similar products.
  • Memory management: a solid understanding of the different types of memory, including RAM, ROM and Flash
  • Experience with industry standard device communications protocols such as TCP/IP, Modbus, HTTP, & SSL is preferred
  • Experience with Microcontroller/microprocessor ecosystems such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, & Microchip is a plus.
  • Knowledgeable in PCB design


Day- to Day Work Examples:

  • Develop, maintain and modify wide range of embedded applications
  • Use digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes, DAQs, and other equipment to measure, analyze and troubleshoot electrical systems.
  • Collaborate with non-engineer scientists, e.g. chemists, biologists, molecular biologists
  • Conduct regular requirement gathering sessions with business unit leadership
