In this role, the Product Development Engineer will be responsible for leading the product design of new and innovative equipment through design and manufacturing to product launch. The Product Development Engineer position is a critical role within the Global Engineering team and will work with a team of diverse engineers and R&D scientists to create novel equipment for biological, water treatment, lubricant, and parts washing businesses. This individual will be responsible for innovating and creating new equipment platforms to empower NCH’s chemical and biological businesses.   • Generate new product ideas/equipment
  • Team leader on engineered product development and launch teams
  • Generate SolidWorks CAD models & drawings, functionality studies, product profiles, product specifications, etc.
  • Project scoping, planning as well as resource and cost analysis
  • Build functional prototypes that accurately demonstrate engineering intent (Engineering areas:  Manufacturing, Mechanical, Design, Industrial, Mechatronics)
  • Support technical development of large or small projects that contribute to innovation or growth objectives and/or value engineered products to improve benefits compared to cost.
  • Develop test methods, conduct testing, data analysis, and evaluation to determine or prove performance and reliability or understand quality issues.
  • Interface with the R&D teams, existing manufacturing sites, existing vendors, and potential new vendors to support existing products and/or develop and launch new products
  • Function within all quality systems and regulations.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline
  • 5+  years of industrial engineering experience
  • Manufacturing experience with a proven track record of launching products
  • Proficient in SolidWorks/3D CAD software
  • Product requirement document, design for manufacturing, design for six sigma, design for reliability, design for sustainability
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Project management experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Project, Visio)
  • Must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills and capable of working on multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to explain complex ideas and be comfortable sharing information with all levels from sales to senior management
  • 15% travel, must be able to lift up to 65 lbs.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Product Development Experience in regulated applications e.g. medical devices, food hygiene etc.
  • Experience in biomedical or bioengineering, or biology desirable
  • Proven ability to independently manage and execute objectives
  • Experience with various manufacturing and assembly methods; injection molding, blown films, heat sealing
  • Systems Engineering and Requirements Management experience a plus
  • ISO-9000, GMP, & GLP knowledge a plus
  • 3D printing a plus
