Hero Pet Brands, a division of NCH Corporation, has a fantastic opportunity for a Product/Brand Manager of Consumables which will be responsible for leading key growth platforms in the areas of pet treats and consumable pet health products.  This position reports to the Director of Product Marketing and will contribute to the success of Hero Pet Brands via managing and leading insight development, strategy, product portfolio lifecycle, innovation, promotions and category analysis. This role is a challenging and exciting opportunity to make a positive impact in the growing pet care industry and directly influence the P&L.

What You’ll be Doing:


25% Omni Channel - Insights/Innovation/Positioning of Products:

  • Working with internal and external resources, build a robust pool of consumer and market insights.
  • Identify and prioritize growth opportunities through thoughtful consumer and customer insights, thorough competitive and market analyses and deep understanding of emerging trends.
  • Develop new product strategies to help “leverage” identified market opportunities.
  • Build 3 year roadmap of new and innovative products, packaging and merchandising.
  • Prioritize across Category and Channel (Mass, Pet Specialty and eComm).


15% Brand Development: 

  • Plan on-going consumer support to drive brand equity and increase awareness, purchase and usage of products/brands for Buffalo Range® and Vet’s Best®.
  • Work in partnership with outside agencies and internal partners to plan and execute brand-building programs.


25% Analysis:

  • Act as the central point for all market, consumer, and customer information; Synthesize, frame and present information to all relevant stakeholders to gain alignment on product strategies and associated action plans.
  • Lead cross-functional effort to establish business case development and presentation to the executive team.


30% Planning/Leadership:

  • Manage development of new products through the stage gate process.
  • Lead cross functional teams to accomplish key initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Product Marketing and eComm Leaders to build and refine process and overall organizational efficiencies.


5% Customer Interaction

  • Partner with the Hero Pet Brands sales team to present compelling insights, category analysis, and new product recommendations to key retail partners.
  • Attend industry trade shows to articulately and confidently represent our brands and products with customers, suppliers, and media/press.



What You’ll Need (REQUIREMENTS):


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration or similar fields required.  MBA in Marketing or related field strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant Marketing experience.  Progression of successful accomplishments in marketing that includes experience with consumer insights, category analytics, product development, and packaging.
  • Excellent leadership skills, including strong attention to detail and the ability to lead cross-functional teams with a sense of urgency.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to listen and understand different perspectives.
  • Demonstrated analytical ability including drawing focused insights/conclusions from Nielsen/IRI and other data sources.
  • CPG industry experience is preferred.
