Hero Pet Brands- Associate Product Manager- Pet Care

Hero Pet Brands, a division of NCH Corporation, has a fantastic opportunity for an Associate Product/Brand Manager to join its growing product marketing team.  In this role, the Associate Product/Brand Manager will contribute to the success of Hero Pet Brands via managing and leading insight development, strategy, product portfolio lifecycle, innovation, promotions and category analysis. This role is a challenging and exciting opportunity to make a positive impact in the growing pet care industry and directly influence the P&L.

What You’ll be Doing:



  • Manage existing product lines across multiple channels (Mass, Pet Specialty, eCommerce).
  • Lead cross functional teams to accomplish key initiatives.
  • Manage development of new products through the stage gate process.


Omni Channel - Insights/Innovation/Positioning of Products:

  • Partner with internal and external resources to build a robust pool of consumer and market insights.
  • Identify and prioritize growth opportunities through thoughtful consumer and customer insights, thorough competitive and market analyses and deep understanding of emerging trends.
  • Collaborate on development of new product strategies to help “leverage” identified market opportunities.
  • Assist in building 3-year roadmap of new and innovative products, packaging and merchandising.
  • Prioritize across Category and Channel (Mass, Pet Specialty and eCommerce).


Brand Development: 

  • Plan on-going consumer support to drive brand equity and increase awareness, purchase and usage of products/brands for Simple Solution®, OUT!® Pet Care and Vet’s Best®.
  • Work in partnership with outside agencies and internal partners to plan and execute brand-building programs.



  • Act as the central point for all market, consumer, and customer information.
  • Synthesize, frame and present information to all relevant stakeholders to gain alignment on product strategies and associated action plans.
  • Lead cross-functional effort to establish business case development and presentation to the executive team.



Customer Interaction

  • Partner with the Hero Pet Brands sales team to present compelling insights, category analysis, and new product recommendations to key retail partners.
  • Attend industry trade shows to articulately and confidently represent our brands and products with customers, suppliers, and media/press.



What You’ll Need (REQUIREMENTS):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or similar fields required. MBA in Marketing or related field is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant project management experience. Progression of successful accomplishments that includes experience with consumer insights, category analytics, product development, and packaging.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to comprehend business implications of decisions and display orientation toward maximizing profitability.
  • Excellent project management skills, including strong attention to detail and the ability to lead cross-functional teams and meet project deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to listen and understand different perspectives.
  • Demonstrated analytical ability including drawing focused insights/conclusions from Nielsen/IRI and other data sources.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • CPG industry experience is preferred.
